• E-Bike Market Forecasted To Grow Close To $120 Billion By 2030 - Asia Pacific accounts for the biggest slice of the pie with a market share of 42.5 percent as of 2022. (via Inside EV)

• Duke Energy unveils EV charging subscription service, partnering with BMW, Ford and GM. The pilot program in North Carolina will allow Duke to call up to three demand response events per month and utilizes vehicle telematics to avoid the need for a second meter at the customer’s home. • Florida officials warn EV owners to move vehicles away from ‘catastrophic’ storm surge Florida reported 21 electric vehicle battery fires associated with flooding during Hurricane Ian in 2022. “We know that the saltwater ... can compromise these batteries,” the state’s fire marshal said (via Smart Cities Dive)

• Nikola begins hydrogen-powered truck production. Customers include J.B. Hunt, Anheuser-Busch and AJR Trucking. (via Trucking Dive)

• Home charging has loan add-on potential. The electric vehicle home charger startup Treehouse and its backer Assurant see potential in EV chargers being a dealership add-on in car sales. (via Autonews)

• The ‘worst of all worlds’ for EV charging companies as Tesla swoops in. EV charging networks ChargePoint and Blink Charging are burning through cash quickly as automakers frustrated with poor charger reliability start to create their own networks. (via Autonews)

• Tesla’s $41,000 Model X Discount Unlocks Subsidies Musk Wanted Gone. The Model X now qualifies for a $7,500 federal tax credit, despite CEO called for US to get rid of all subsidies in 2021. (via Bloomberg)

• Dutch E-Bike Brand VanMoof Bought Out of Bankruptcy by Scooter Maker. Lavoie, which makes high-end scooters based on McLaren’s Formula 1 technology, acquired the trendy e-bike brand that had gained a zealous following. (via NY Times)
